Acupressure point of the day! 📍Lung 7 (LU 7)
In Chinese Medicine, the Lungs control breathing and help to spread Qi throughout the entire body. It's responsible for what we call your "Wei Qi", which is the defensive energy of the body to protect you from illness.
To say LU 7 is an important point is an understatement!
It's commonly used to treat lung related symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, asthma, and shortness of breath. It's also an important point to boost the immune system and strengthen your lungs! Because of the location of the Lung channel, it's also an incredible point for head & neck pain (think migraines, toothache & sore throat).
In Chinese Medicine, we associate each of the five elements with an organ system. The Lungs are associated with the Metal element and its emotions are grief & depression. This is why many of us feel grief in our chests.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, dealing with grief or would like an immune boost (because who couldn't right now?), take a few minutes each day to stimulate this point while taking deep & full breaths.
This point is safe to use during pregnancy!
LU 7 is found on the thumb side of the wrist. Start at the wrist crease & measure down with your second & third fingers together. The point will be between two tendons on a bony prominence.
